Hi.
I'm looking for (sound) hardware that has external audio i/o (like the Hercules game
theater XP) that is fully functional under linux. What's my best bet in this
department? If the support for these devices currently exist, what's the best
alternative -- does anyone have a mixer/soundca
I have an SB PCI512 on a 2.4.13 kernel running the latest ALSA drivers
(0.9beta9). At first I would only get the left channel output (i.e.
nothing came from the right speaker and I was missing the right channel
sound). I tried everything with alsamixer, and tried gamix, but the
program kept segf

Hi
I have alsa-0.9beta10 on my system, kernel 2.4.16, was a SuSE 7.3, soundcard
is emu10k1.
So:
Sound works fine, both oss emulation (which most applications seem to use),
and "pure" alsa, (which only xine seems to use). But, the following pattern
occurs:
I play quake3 a lot while listening
Hi,
the latest opl3sa2 driver on cvs includes experimental power
management support.
As usual the driver has not been tested fully, so if you have a
notebook with opl3sa, please take the latest source and give a try.
Thanks.

Hi,
I added experimental codes to control HW volume on maestro2 (es1968)
from the docking station. The new function is not tested since I
myself don't own the docking stuff..
If you have es968 docking station, please give a try and report
whether it works or not.
Thanks.

To the pepple who use Via 8233 AC97 onBoard sound device on RedHat, Mandrake,

This is how to install the via drivers and unmute the device :

Thank you for responding. I have read in the OSS documentation for the
driver that the hardware is wired to 48000Hz and cannot perform the
sample rate conversion. I am probably getting that part wrong, and certainly
I don't quite understand it. If someone can better explain the problem I would

Hello All,
I have tried both the 0.5 and the 0.9 drivers with approximately
the same result: very noisy or scatchy sound. I believe this
issue has been mentioned in prior months on this
I have the same problem, the 'snd_ac97_clock' argument probably works not
on my chipset (MSI MS-6380 K7T266 Pro motherboard). The only way to get
'clear sound' from mp3 seems to use xmms with its crossfade plugin, and
set Sample rate to 48kHz (in Output table). (I tried (alsa 0.9+0beta7-2

I have tried that, it only outputs through the front speakers.
I also tried

Hello All,
Can any one suggest me a sound card which will work
without any problems with ALSA. Most of the cards
listed in the card matrix in alsa-project.org are not
available in the market (i am from india). I have
Yamaha opl3sa2 card, which is suppose to work with
alsa as per the card matrix of

I'm still having problems with my EWX 24/96 card (Envy24/ICE1712)
Although compilation of the module wend OK.
Loading of the modules seems OK.
The information in /proc/asound seems OK.
I can start amixer and change settings. OK.
But when I want to play a sound-file the computer hangs/stops.
I
my systems already working.
thanks for the help! :P
