1. I have kernel 2.4.17, FROM www.kernel.org
Built myself 'cause I do Netfilter dev stuff.
2. After building the kernel with support for my via686 chipset,
built alsa-driver, ./configure, make, make install...

I'm interested in getting the ALSA driver working on Mandrake 8.1, but have
no idea where to begin. I've done some extensive searching but have failed to
come up with any real useful information on the level I need. Can anyone
