This is probably a configuration problem at my end, as Ive had similar irks
with other packages - none fixable. When trying to install it looks for
Linux src/header files, no luck. I created a symbolic link once I discovered
they existed.. and now the configure bit works fine...

I updated my modules.conf... somewhere along the way
I must have deleted the snd bit and never caught it.
I copied your conf file over mine and now when I run
/etc/init.d/alsasound start I hear a pop over the
speakers. That is a little progress, but apparently
the system is just not seeing the s

I have recompiled the kernel so it includes

since i'm using a terratec ewx 24/96 sound card which is not supported by alsa 0.5.
is the oss emulatiion turned on in this binary?
