this is a more specific version of my previous question about midi
thru. It looks like for some reason the midi in (front panel connector)
on my sb live doesn't work under linux (it works fine under windows so
it's not a hw/cable problem). The rx field in /proc/asound/card0/midi0
is always zero.

Looking at the Alsa Sound Card Matrix, it looks like the Alsa project
supports Analog Devices Sound cards with the ac97 codec. I am looking
to purchase a Shuttle AV30 motherboard that has onboard ac97 sound.
Please forgive my ignorance, but if Alsa supports Analog Devices Sounds
cards with the ac
Try upgrading muse to 0.5.3. I have had success with that version. It
actually works quite nicely.

ESS Solo-1 ES1938 soundcard?
The doc/SOUNDCARDS file is rather old, so there might have been some
changes in the meanwhile.
