Does the current alsa driver ( 0.9.0rc2) provide tone controls ( ie. bass,
treble ) for the audigy? When I use alsamixer there are a multitude of
controls listed but tone control(s) are not listed ( at least by a name which
I recognize ).

I've got a problem that I'm hoping someone has figured out.
I'm attempting to get the sound to work on a Dell Precision 530 workstation
that has an Intel 860 chipset with an AD 1885 sound chip.
The intel8x0 driver loads fine, but all I get out of the speakers is a
low-volume "thump".

you need to enable (unmute) "Tone Control Switch" via alsamixer
