AT,
Try running alsaconfig. With any luck you have the driver, it will find
your card, and then you'll be fine.
Since you are running RH7.3 (same as me) you might want to check out
Planet.CCRMA for this sort of stuff. IT makes it all so easy.

I just installed Red Hat LINUX 7.3 Professional. System detected my soundcard

Hi,
The things is that I can play sounds with no problems but when I try
to record something I only get noise burst (quite loud), this doesn't
happen with oss.
Can somebody help me here?
Thanks

Hi guys,
I installed the latest alsa drivers, libs, etc. (that being 0.9.0rc3 as far as
I could determine). Everything works just fine, except for the microphone.
- All channels are unmuted and levels are set to the highest values.
- "Mic" is set to capture, unmuted and set to highest value

Yeah, now nothing seems to be recording anymore, not even when I enable the
PCM channel as the capture channel. Just weird. Any ideas how I can debug
this closer?

Hi,
I recently have upgraded my SB Vibra16x to a C-Media Sound Expert and
have also upgraded from OSS/Free to Alsa.
Unfortunately at the moment, I'm writing this mail with no sound enabled
because as soon as I 'modprobe snd-cmipci', my machine turns into a hell

Hi I've searched the archive for this, and found a few people with this problem but
didn't notice any solutions.
Every time I play a sound thru the ALSA drivers there is a popping sound at the start
of the playback. It seems to only occur when it has to "regrab" the sound card, since

I just upgraded to a Sound Blaster Audigy Mp3+ from an aging Awe32. I
uggraded Alsa to 0.9rc3 to get Audigy support. As far as I can tell
everything is great in 2 speaker. In Xine surround I have two
problems. I turn on everything except passthrough (I have no 5.1
decoder)... I say yes to 5.1
OK, I know I have asked this question before, but so far I have had
absolutely no response.
I am running rc3 now, but same was true on the last 5 versions... I
can play mono files with aplay, and also mp3 with mpg123 and MIDI with
timidity, but when I play a (say) 4min stereo file I get 4mins of
Hi all!
I don't know if this is a FAQ, but if it is, it's way beyond my Internet
searching abilities :-)
I have a SBLive! card connected through a digital (TOSLink SP/DIF)
