Master Mono: this doesn't seem to have an effect on anythign, and is muted by
default
Headphone LFE 1: This is 0/0 and muted by default. unmuting it does nothing.
It is not possible to increase it's volume

I am running a Debian distribution Woody on my laptop Compaq Presario 900.
The soundcard is an ALi 5451. I have installed alsasource 0.5.12a and the
compilation went OK. Besides, the system freeze when i try to load the
module 'snd-card-ali5451'. I am using a kernel 2.4.20 with acpi patch.
I got ALSA working with my Ensoniq 1371 some time ago. Recently, i've
rebuilt my kernel and install a new video card and new drivers on my
modified RH8 system over a 2 day period. At different times as a rebuilt
the kernel, the sound system was broken and I reinstall ALSA. Once or

sorry - I intended putting all the relevant cats in. Since posting I've
installed snd-virmidi, so I've now
got this:

Installed ALSA on my 2.4.20 Debian box successfully with my Intel8x0
driver (can play MP3s with Xmms or MIDIs with Timidity).
Can also successfully plug in my Evolution MK225c keyboard and see it
generate signals by running aseqview -s72:0 but dont see my soundcard
with aconnect -lo
