Hi
I've recently purchased a new machine with a built in soundcard as part
of the SiS 645DX chipset (motherboard is Gigabyte GA-8ST667).
I've had success getting audio to work using the intel8x0 modules.
However I can't seem to get the midi port to work. It is enabled in BIOS
and here are
Ok, I figured it out. amixer cset is my friend!

Hello!
To see if your card is supported I suggest:

And about the driver, I would rather try version 0.9rc6 or rc7. If no sound
support is found, that might mean no soundcore is loaded. If I have it right,
the soundcore module of the kernel must be loaded. But don't trust
Greetings all. I am new to Linux, am running RH-8 (2.4.18-19.8.0) and an

Hi,
I'm new to alsa and I'm having some trouble configuring my RME Digi96/8

So far, I have alsa-driver, alsa-lib and alsa-utils 0.9.0rc7 installed and
the drivers are loaded. I can play wav files fine (actually they sou

I'm at wit's end trying to get my Debian laptop running ALSA to make
any noise at all. Well, it makes the system beep sound just fine, but
nothing else.
To start with, when I run "aplay /usr/share/sounds/pop.wav", I get:
aplay: main:447: audio open error: No such file or directory
I'm running
after a long search I managed to install alsa rc7 on suse 8.0
The distributed kernel is 2.4.18-4GB, and the alsa gets unresolved symbols.
Fix: #include into acore/misc.c

Hi !
I get no sound from my "Cambrige Soundworks Desktop Theater 5.1 DTT2500
Digital-Soundsystem" which is connected to a SB Audigy over SPDIF cable.
I have installed latest alsa version 0.9.0 rc7.
If i try to config the sound with alsamixer and unmute "Audigy A" i hear only
a loud whistle.
