i've just installed the latest version of alsa-stable, 0.9.2, and now when
i play mp3s, i hear this discernable buzzing sound, like interference of
some sort. this was never the case before i upgraded my alsa drivers. i'm
using the via8233a chipset, and compiled alsa-drivers with via82xx.

I downloaded ALSA drivers v0.9.0rc6 and I'm using them now. They work
correctly, but this Sound card (I have a Gigabyte GA7-VAX mobo) is
multichannel (up to 6.1) in Windows.
I'm currently using 2.1 speakers configuration, but I have 4.1
speakers, can I enable 4.1 output? Is it

I have an audio half duplex app. It runs under oss drivers on both a VIA
AC-97 86c686 and an SB16. However under alsa on the sb16 it is totally
screwed up with up to ten seconds time delay from whats being said to it
actually leaving the system,
Im trying to play this old game, Terminus, with alsa-0.9.2 with
OSS emulation but to no avail. With the OSS driver it works.
With alsa, it starts like this:

ok until i select one of the surround channels in xine (4, 5, or 5.1

Still trying to get my Delta44 to stop dropping
samples when playing and recording.
I read some stuff on IRQ's, and pci latency, and
so put my Delta44 on IRQ9, and the video on 4. I also
cut the video card's slot down to a latency value of 32,
while bumping up the Delta44's slot to 248,

Hi. Can you provide some more info on how things are set up? If
you've got the Delta44 IRQ on 9, then that's a good start. I do not
understand how you moved the IRQ for video. That's normally not movable.
Can you supply the complete output of an lspci -v command?
What's the basic
