Hi, everybody:
With respect to the noise associated with the via8233,
in my case I have found that it totally dissapeared changing the setting
of a sampling rate in the Control Center of KDE (mandrake 9.0).
The following lines show the path trough the KDE menu

Hi,
I have a Asrock k7VT2 (VIA KT266A northbridge and VIA 8325 southbridge)
with a Duron (Morgan) 1,3 Ghz. The mobo has the onboard (VIA 1612A)
AC'97 sound chip, which I use with Alsa 0.9.1. I have Debian unstable,
with the 2.6.0-3 testing kernel.

Awhile ago I asked some questions about digital output support for
this card, and one of the developers told me they were getting one and
would work on this. I'm wondering if anyone has got this to work yet.
Another thing that I haven't mentioned is that Quake3's sound doesn't
work at all with ALS

Oops the oops returned. I have just upgraded to 2.4.22. Again, KT133,

I can't seem to get alsa-driver to build with the latest kernel source:
In file included from /home/austin/alsa-driver-0.9.6/include/sound/driver.

Hi everybody!
I'm one of those (unlucky) owners of a via8233 chip. I'm using
alsa-0.9.6 with a 2.4.21 kernel. The sound playback is (you'll
guess it) noisy, unless I use that dxs_support=3 options with
snd-via82xx. This is not a problem, but I observe other strange
behaviours.
(1) Very often

The -ac kernel patch makes an incompatible change to the tty
