I use a Toshiba Tecra 9100, running Gentoo.
Since I got it, I've been trying to install alsa without success. I always get the
following error, with any of the player I try to use:
ALSA lib pcm_params.c:2096:(snd_pcm_hw_refine_slave) Slave PCM not usable

maybe de /dev/lp0 but that's not the clue).
I did download the 0.9.7a ALSA drivers and typed

I am brand new to Linux, but have tried everything I could find on Google and the archives, searching for Tecra 8000 sound problems.
My sound card works in Redhat 8, but not using the opl3sa2 driver - using the NeoMagic 256AV driver. The video driver in the computer is a NeoMagic, and that's

I am in the process of upgrading the kernel from 2.4.20 to 2.4.22, and I
ran into a strange problem. ALSA has always configured and installed

I have a shuttle sk41g system with on-board via8233 chip. I've followed
the installation of alsa and the configuration on the website and
everything works nicely. I can listen to mp3s and other sounds

putting spdif as the user-defined device. The question is, how do I
