Hi,
I have an interesting problem. I have sound working when I plug my head
phones in but no sounds through my speakers. I have a laptop. I have noticed
that if I insert a PCMCIA card and the you hear what would normally be a
"beep" from the PC Speaker, it comes through the speakers mixed in wi
Hi, all,
I just recognized my complete lack of understanding how alsa deals with its devices...
;-/...after switching to 2.6 I now have the following:
0 [Dummy ]: Dummy - Dummy
1 [VirMIDI]: VirMIDI - VirMIDI
2 [CMI8738]: CMI8738 - C-Media PCI CMI8738
well, it works...w
I've compiled the stable version of the 2.6.0 Kernel, and now my audio refuses to
work, It worked under 2.4.22, but then 2.4.22 did not have alsa build in. As you can
see below the modules are loaded. Is there a patch for au8820 to 2.6.x?? or what
should I do?
Current compile config:

I'm using RedHat Linux 9 (2.4.20-8 kernel), and I installed the alsa-driver, but it
makes no sound.
The MB is a Gigabyte 8IPE1000 (i865PE ICH5 chipset), with a Realtek ALC658 codec on it.
The alsa-driver 0.9.4 works perfectly, but the 1.0.0rc2 wouldn't. Although everything
seems to be working usi
I just upgraded my kernel to 2.4.23 and tried to install alsa-1.0.0rc2
but I'm having problems.
Why is my soundcard not detected?
I broke the "if it works, don't touch it" rule. :-)

Hey Patrick,
I just realized the root of all that mess was that the version we both
have is way out of date. The latest is inside the alsa-tools tarball,
just unpack and enter the envy24control directory and
./configure;make;make install.

Hi,
Hardware architecture permits that, needs some work.
