Hi folks,
I've torn my hair out in despair, and have nothing but silence to
show for it. Before I go completely bald, I'd like to solicit some
help in getting my "media PC" working with my stereo system.
The hardware:

Hello list, Jaroslav;
I've had a just barely working sound system since I switched to the
2.6.x kernels, mostly from some residdual oss stuff, so I figured it
was time to update it with the full alsa-1.0.4 kit. TvTime in
particular had very low, and uncontrolled audio levels. Kmix could
make

Hi,
I've just bought a HP pavilion zx5051EA (laptop).
I installed Fedora Core 1 with no problems but then I couldn't get my
sound device to be detected. After having googled myself to death I
finally managed to get it working with the alsa package.
My sound card is a:

It seems
I have just downloaded and installed ALSA 1.0.4 according to the description
for sound card AW320 (cs46xx) and when I run alsamixer all I get is:
alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such file or directory
I did not have that error with ALSA 1.0.3. Any work-around?

Er
I recently got an old sound blaster live! It works perfectly fine,
except that I have troubles playing wav files since I got it.
I don't really know how to describe this problem, since I'm not a native
english speaker. I would say that wavs are playing in loop. For example,
if I have a wav file
Hi everyone,
I got a Soundblaster Live 5.1 digital but i'm using an analog 5.1 system, all
is fine, for the exception that I have to use esd or aRts for having a real
master/pcm to control all 5.1 channels. If i use the standard alsa master
volume control or pcm, I just can control the volume of

I've tried that before but it don't work. The alsamixer frontend doesn't work properly. I can control the Volumes of the devices neither. But that is a problem with the drivers i think.
