Hi there!
I managed to get my RME HDSP Card to run under Debian/testing with a 2.6.4
kernel.
since i am new to audio on linux i have a question:
when i play something from, let's say xmms or snd, i get audio output on all 18
channels of my RME card. Under xmms i chose the oss emulation bc when i

Again me,
I finally got it work again with puting in blacklist audio and

Creative SBLive card
Pinnacle PCTV PRO card connected to the SBlive
I started using ALSA because of the SBlive card. It is great all
speakers work and I had no problem installing it. The bttv card works
also like a charm. I can watch tv without any problem. Now I

I just installed kernel 2.6.6, which fixed the whole problem for me. I am now
able to hear stereo music from xmms played directly through alsa on all

Hi Clement,
No. But now again, even with audio (or should be snd-usb-audio?) i
I first started experimenting with the stereo -> 5.1 configuration and
got it to work great!
Then in the interests of everyone sharing the card, I fiddled around
with dmixing the new 5.1 device and succeeded - now stereo apps are
upmixed to 5.1, share with each other, AND share with real 5.1 apps.

You can use Rosegarden with any software synthesizer or external
hardware synthesizer you like.

Hi,
Is there any easy way to tap into the sound data going
into ALSA? I'm trying to determine the lossage when a
machine is under heavy load, and need some means of
accessing the stream ALSA actually tries to play.
(This can be via shared memory, /proc, whatever. All I
need to know is whether an a
Update:
I made my route-device the alsa default device so that arts would use it and
now play music with xmms through arts. It seems to work so the question is if
maybe the problem was not with alsa or the route plugin but with the way xmms
talks to alsa...

Hello,
I recently purchaed the Chaintech AV-710 sound card, which uses VIA's Envy24HT-S
chip, to pass audio through the S/PDIF Digital Output (toslink) to an audio
reciever. The card was (correctly) identified by alsa as using the snd_ice1724
driver. Analog output works fine, but I can't get it
Hi,
I have a Gigabyte GA-7VA motherboard, equiped VIA KT400/VT8235 chipset
with an Athlon XP 1900+. Its AC97 codec is the Realtek ALC650, capable of
SPDIF in/out and 6-channel output.
My goal is to decode the AC-3 SPDIF signal from my DVD and to play it
using the PC. By using alsamixer for config
hi,
I have searched net to find a suitable solution for my problem, but nothing.
alsa driver just dont recognize my hdsp9632 with new flash update from rme.
Do I have to wait for new firmware update from alsa, or there is another
solution?
thanks

Hi Clemens,

Doh! and I thought all sound cards have some kind of midi support. Thanks for
pointing out.
So in other words, I cannot use rosegarden on this machine ?!

Hi. I'm using the alsa drivers that came with
Mandrake 10.0 Official. I've tried a SoundBlaster
Live and a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum on it.
The latter purportedly has true full duplex, but both
suffer exactly the same problem.
They won't multitrack. The first track sounds great,
but
