I'm running Slackware 9.1 on a Shuttle SK41G (VIA 8235 sound chip) with Alsa 0.9.6. If I use one of Slackware's prebuilt kernels, alsa runs just great. When I build a custom kernel, all of the alsa modules load just fine but I get "Input/output error" when trying to use aplay. From scanning
