I am trying to configure alsa in a way that it is possible to play wav files

I have got a Terratec Aureon 5.1 USB MKII device. I managed to make xine
work with "pass through" as well as "surround 5.1".
As my HTPC and amplifier is stored away, I control everything via WLAN,
HTML interface and a PDA. Thus I do not have the chance to control the
amplifier's volume. I onl

hi I am using a old but lovley sony vaio pcg-z600ne
and i am runing a debian (stable/2.4.27-2-686) on it.
Everything works realy nice, also most parts of the
