This thread is about my attempts to get mencoder (part of the MPlayer suite) to record sound as well as video through my TV capture card. It works in a linux build that uses only the old, deprecated OSS sound, but not with alsa.

when i log in, take an error message like that;
sound server informatial message;
error while initilaizing the sound driver
device /dev/sdp cant be opened
(no such file or directory)
the sound server will continue using the null output
It would be nice if HDSPMixer could update itself if amixer changed a
value.
