Hi all,
Did ask for some help recently in trying to get an RME Multiface working
under Alsa, Suse and using the PCMCIA card. It seems to be working for many
of you. Have managed to get a certain distance, again, and have reached
aother brickwall. Firstly I recompiled the kernel (several times)
This was solved today --- turns out the problem is that the Omnibook
800CT/166 exhausts available interrupts with sound, serial, parallel, and
irda; when adding a PCMCIA card (NIC) the machine appears to deprive sound
of use of it's interrupt. I tried disabling all of these peripherals and

Hello.
I have several soundcards in my machine, including a Soundblaster Live!
Platinum (model: CT4760).
The other cards work well, but this one has trouble, either alone in the
system or with the other cards.
The problem is: as soon I want to use it, I get a message that the card waq

I'm working on fresh install of the "puppy" linux distribution (version
2.12) on an older machine, a HP Omnibook 800CT. It is a 166 MHz Pentium with
80M RAM, circa 1998 or so.
The machine is distributed with alsa wizard version 1.08, which finds the
sound peripheral for the machine (snd-es18xx)
I have a AWE64 card:
kernel: isapnp: Card 'Creative SB AWE64 PnP'
I am having problems getting it to play midi files using aplaymidi,
playmidi and the like. It has worked happily in the past.
Yesterday, after several hours of experimentation I mananaged to get
asfxload to load fonts, and playmi
If you are using a recent alsa version (>1.0.11 I think, perhaps also
1.0.10, but I'm not sure..), you don't need to modify your asoundrc or
asound.conf.
Try to use default:1 as device. It should work out of the box.
If not try to assign index 0 to the usb card (with module options) and
use default
I have been working with this RME Hammerfall (not the HDSP version) for years
now without trouble. But I would like to try recording 88.2/96 kHz.
I tried to set it using qjackctl, but this fails. Reading on the alsa-poject
site, I saw that in the .asoundrc entry for the card is marked that 88.2
ok, it worked !!
thanx
I should just add that on debian sid
those lines should be added to the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base file
