I have got 2 sound card, the one I am interesting is the second one, a
maudio revolution 5.1, ice1724 (hw:1)
mpd is working fine with plughw1,0 device. But I would like to use the

You can add the option to your /etc/modules.conf:
options snd_hda_intel model=vaio
This way it will be picked up automatically when the module is loaded.
