I think /dev/dsp (or /dev/dsp1) (on my system it's just a link) can open all
10 channels at once. Far as I know delta 1010LT only offers one OSS /dev/dspN
device. Maybe you can try something via asoundrc magic or with the aoss
library, but I never had to use the later one.

alsamixer works -- it finds the card and lets me change parameters for
each of the channels. I guess I was expecting /dev/dsp[1-10] to get
created at boot time, but that doesn't happen: I get /dev/dsp and

I've just started to play with Ubuntu, but cannot get the sound system and
ALSA to work. No help from the Ubuntu forums, so I'm hoping for help here.
The configuration looks OK to my totally untutored gaze, but when I try to
