Many applications allow you to change the buffer size. What
applications are you using to play sounds?
Ok, I am tweaking the period, and nperiods options of alsa API. Still, It is
somehow bad. I've googled a bit more, and learned that there is something

I have some strange problem with midi. I read all gentoo.org
http://gentoo.org documentation, and all wiki.gentoo documentation,
and no success.
I have Sound Blaster Live 5.1, emu10k1.

Hello,

beginners this looks like the sound isn't working. As I started to use
alsa, I didn't know I have to unmute my sound first and finally went
back to OSS, as I knew that this

No, guys, I use gnome, not KDE. And Im talking about alsamixer here.
I just can`t find any input record controls, only the capture feedback witch
doesn`t help me because it just doesn`t affect the way the recording

problem is:
I use my SB Live (live line in) to radio broadcasting and the live input
audio is very distorced.
I use the alsa drivers with Fedora Core 5. What can I do? I realy

Honnestly, the current set of mixer controls is cumbersome. $user can
hardly understand what all the controls are good for, and mixer software
is not user-friendly either. The Live! mixer from Creative gives you a
joystick control where you can move the marker around

With linux-source-2.6.17 already installed, it was fairly
straightforward to compile a new set of ALSA modules for the 2.6.17 by

Will be fine, the emu110k1 can use bigger soundfont, but you must first get
it to work.
The sound font loads onto the sound card, so isn't resident in main RAM.
Wrong, the sound card use ram memory.
