If you are using a recent alsa version (1.0.11 I think, perhaps also 1.0.10, but I'm not sure..), you don't need to modify your asoundrc or asound.conf. Try to use default:1 as device. It should work out of the box. If not try to assign index 0 to the usb card (with module options) and use default
