Hello list,
Newbie here: Is it possible to select a source channel (left or right)
and send it to an i810-based sound card's Line-Out plug to both channels
by using amixer or similar? (what a sentence...)
Reasoning behind is that I just installed a MythTV box and am running
into a naughty problem. Over here in Hong Kong we (sometimes) get
terrestrial TV broadcasts with bilingual NICAM. That leads to some
recordings having an English language on the left channel and a Chinese
language on the right channel of the media file. While my Chinese is not
very good, it's even worse when I have to listen to both languages at
the same time ;-) I'd therefore like to (sometimes) either take the left
or the right source-channel and route it to both channels of my
soundcard output. I'm quite sure that this could be done via the
.asoundrc, but then I understand that in order to change the channel
assignment, you'd have to restart the application since apparently
.asoundrc gets read @ application-start and not real-time. Right?
Restarting the MythTV application to change an audio-track is not very
wife-friendly...
I also guess that the proper point to tackle the problem would be the
application itself (MythTV), but since I'm not too motivated to dig too
much into the coding details of MythTV, I hoped to get an easy fix via
amixer or similar...
Hope you guys can enlighten me a bit,
Hajo
