Hello everyone...and happy new year to all of you.

I have updated my ALSA drivers to version 1.0.0rc2 following the instructions
in the web, (I have a CMI8738 soundsystem) it took to me a little bit due to
I'm new to LInux... and for sure that I will use more and more. Anyway, it
was working very good and I was using arts daemon to control de soundcard to
allow sound within Quake3 via "..../artsdsp -v -m ...../Quake3".

After one session with gnome windowsmanager and after allowing play sounds
(¿ESD?) the systems hunged up. Once recover and using KDE, I can not use arts
to play sounds as initially. I'm pretty sure that the problem is on the sound
device /dev/dsp because the output of "artsshell status" says

.
.device:null
.

and arstcontrol shows grafical sounds leve but NO SOUND!!!

Maybe this is related to the info I get when look sound info, whichs detects
my soundcard but says the following

Audio devices:NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG
Synth Devices:NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG
midi devices:NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG

mixer devices:NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG

Well, I suppose shouldn't be very difficult, but I've spent a lot of time with
no result, then I ask anyone for a little help.

Thanks in advance
Jesús Morcillo
