Hi,

I had everything working fine before (with no apparent system changes)
but somehow the sound stopped working altogether.

I checked all hardware connections, and they are fine. Tried
uninstalling and recompiling and installing alsa again, seemed to work ok.
But the only thing I can get is an app like KsCD to play a cd, but if i go
into a program that plays video or tv i don't get any sound output. The
aplay program doesn't seem to play a test wav or a /dev/dsp stream with
xawtv, but audio *appears* as if its working because I don't see errors
anywhere; drivers are loaded, etc.

If anyone can please help me diagnose I really am not sure where to go from
here. If anyone has a suggestion I would appreciate it.

The sound card is the onboard card for the Soyo KT400 Motherboard. Its a
CMI8738 i believe. I used thd snd-cmipci module before and it worked.

Thanks in advance,

John
