Hi guys, I have successfully installed alsa on my linux system. When I played xmms, I can see the soundwave moving but I can’t get any sound. I am using kernel 2.4.18. Previously, I have no problem getting sound output using the native ymfpci module in the kernel. (ie. sound.o, uart401.o and ymfpci.o) However, when I looked at /proc/asound/sndstat, it has indicated no sound device and I need the device to be recognized as I am using Robust Audio Tool (RAT) which require a working duplex soundcard.
RAT recognized the device when I am using ALSA, but why can't I hear anything? I had adjusted the mixer to the fullest. I had also tried with compiling the soundcore as part of the kernel and as a module. Could anyone advise me on this issue? Thanks in advance! /proc/asound/sndstat Sound Driver:3.8.2-980706 (ALSA v0.5.12a emulation code) Kernel: ... 2.4.18 Config options: 0 Installed drivers: Type 10: ALSA emulation Card config: Yamaha DS-XG PCI (YMF754) at 0xefdf0000, irq 11 Audio devices: 0: YMFPCI (DUPLEX) Synth devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG Midi devices: 0: MPU-401 (UART) Timers: 7: system timer Mixers: 0: Asahi Kasei AK4543 ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Two, two, TWO treats in one. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
