I didn;t get any replies on this the last time, i'd appreciate any help.
I noticed that when I play a sound file, it just repeats the first 10
seconds or so, over and over for the time length of the file. Does anyone
know why it won't play the whole properly file from start to end?

I was just hoping someone might know what more it takes to get sound to
come back after reboots. I used alsamixer to unmute sound, which worked,
then when I run 'alsactl store' it saved the settings to the
/etc/asound.state file, but the card remains muted after a reboot.
thanks..
on this, please respond with what distro of linux you are
using.

I am just windering if anyone has an idea what I could try next. When in
win98, i get sound, and when I look at the device driver info it shows:
io range=0534-0537
irq=10
dma=1
When I try to load the alsa module with this command, here's what it says:
modprobe snd-cs4231 port=0x534 irq=10
hi, I'm just wondering if anyone uses a cs-4231 on here?

thanks for the link, but it doesn't say how to do anything that the alsa
docs didn't. There should also be no need to recompile a new kernel if
you don't even need to, most people wouldn't do that.

hi, I am hoping someone can help me with this one. I have rebuilt the
ALSA packages for redhat 9 since they would not load the modules properly.
That seemed to fix most of the problems, but it still fails when I
