Its more just a warning to those who do this... Yes you can turn the mixed down... but in my experience forgetting is very painful. Even a very loud windows chime is better than a pc-speaker BEEEEEP... not to mention the electronic noise is very very loud... you can hear the "heart beat" of your machine through the pc speaker :-)
