Hi I am using audio card on shuttle with intel 865PE chipset , with sound card as recoginsed by "alsaconf" intel8x0 intel corp. 82801EB AC'97 Audio (rev 02).
I have everything install of redhat 9.0 I did cvs checkout on 04/16/04 of ALSA suite. I compiled and installed alsa-drivers and alsa-utils sound card is up and using alsamixer I turned volumes on on the different channels including IEC958 and Input Monitor IEC958 Playback AC97-SPSA. if I use, $aplay -l card 0: ICH5 [Intel ICH5], device 0: Intel ICH [Intel ICH5] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 0: ICH5 [Intel ICH5], device 4: Intel ICH - IEC958 [Intel ICH5 - IEC958] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 Now if I try to send output to Optical SPDIF # aplay -D hw:0,4 /usr/share/sounds/KDE_Startup.wav Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/KDE_Startup.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 22050 Hz, Mono aplay: set_params:837: Channels count non available I can't play anything on Optical SPDIF out, but on simple analog out using PC headphone I can hear everything fine. Problem is I don't know how to activate output to SPDIF so that I can hook my recevier and let gmplayer or xine send dvd audio AC3 out to SPDIF for my recevier to decode AC3. any insights in this will be helpfull thanks in advance krishan ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IBM Linux Tutorials Free Linux tutorial presented by Daniel Robbins, President and CEO of GenToo technologies.
