Thank you for trying to help!
I have run jackd -d alsa
Then installed cadence to setup jack in easier fashion, it also only shows
the one device that alsa presents to me...
Kind Regards

only "profiles" exist for a single stereo line in no more and
this limits my ability to use the card fully. At this point I am willing
to pay someone to even get this resolved as I cannot find any utilities or
methods that work to "map" channels to create the second line in.
Also it seems i have a mixer, but cant use it in alsa:

Most of the .asoundrc examples people post on
to do this. There is some work in progress
(dmix improvements and new upmixing plugins) to make it easier.
For now you'll have to choose between dmix and stereo->5.1 upmixing (I
have never seen a working .asoundrc that does both).
But dmix and normal 5.1-surround is possible??

Hello gang
I have a dual boot system. 1) kernel 2.4.23 + alsa 0.9.8; 2) kernel
2.6.0test11 w its 0.9.7 drivers and same alsa 0.9.8.
I am wondering what could happen if I install recent alsa 1pre. Kernel 2.4
should be happy of the upgrade; but will apps compiled with the 0.9.0
headers still work

Hello,
Could it be possible to create some kind of channels mixer in the ALSA
space? Example, to extract dolby surround information from a TV show, all
is to do: R' = 0.5R - 0.R5L + 15 msec delay + dynamic expansion; L' = -R'
Could it be done in a .asoundrc?

Hello
Isn't that odd that we have to set "Exchange DACs" in order to have 4 real
channels from AC3/A52 recordings? Couldn't ALSA do this by itself in
surround40 module, and revert it to its previous state after. It's very
annoying because if "Exchange DACs" is permanently on, normal stereo progr

Many thanks to Frank Barknecht for his dmix/ossmix post. After several
months I've finally managed to get dmix to work on my ISA AWE64 card.
You've done a fantastic work.
