I
thought for a while that it might have been just interference from a
line-in input, but it isn't.
I really don't know how to diagnose this. Can anyone suggest anything?

I'd really appreciate it if someone could take a look at my modules.conf
file and tell me if anything is missing. As far as I can see, there's no
info on MIDI on the ALSA site - what I have here is largely pieced
together from scraps of information I've gathered from this list
mode=0666
options snd-emu10k1 index=0
# --- END: Generated by ALSACONF, do not edit. ---
alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0
post-install sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -L
>/dev/null 2>&1 || :
pre-remove sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc

Are you saying that this is how I can tell if a soundfont is correctly
loaded?

I'm using pmidi with the command line
pmidi -p 65:0 myfile.mid
and have 2gmgsmt.sf2 loaded. (Is it possible to check if it's loaded
correctly?)
I'd appreciate any other suggestions.

player.
In my logs, I keep seeing
Jun 4 08:11:54 localhost modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module
sound-slot-1
Jun 4 08:11:55 localhost modprobe: modprobe: Can't locate module
sound-service-
1-0
I'm not sure if this is related.
I find I can play soundfonts in Ssami, but they
ow ASLA doesn't
work with the LiveDrive MIDI, but I can't seem to get apps like Muse to
produce any output.

Get office equipm
Using KDE 3, I always found that I had to run /usr/sbin/alsactl restore
to get the sound to work after booting.
However, I added a start-up sound for KDE, and now I find that the sound
works without me having to manually restore it.
Is there something missing in my installation?
