ok,
i have come to the conclusion that my cs46xx card is not
setting a bit that is needed by my amp to decode the AC3
info into 5.1 surround sound
so.
which card does this correctly? do i have to spend $200 on a
soundblaster product?
thanks

sorry, but i'm still stuck.
mplayer doesn't work w/ -ao alsa9
aplay works w/ -D hw:0,0 and hw:0,2
the IEC958 control is assigned to device 0.
well, it's not nice to have such an incosistency.
but usually it's no problem because the difference is absobed in the
alsa-lib's configuration if
: 1000 ppm
everything else can be changed, but the Original always
comes back from snd_ctl_elem_value_get_iec958 as 1st generation
is it my card (Digifire 7.1) ?

- even more strange. i unloaded the module, then loaded it
again and ran iecset, it shows up as original. try and
change
and copied that output into the config
of ogle. still no go.
what am i doing wrong?
thanks
