Hi Christophe, i agree w/ you -- oss modules aren't needed for alsa apps. since aplay produces an error message, the primary problem is with your alsa installation, not your external connections, etc. i don't understand why aplay doesn't find your card either. just a guess, but did you run ./s

FWIW, i had similar problems with 0.9.0beta7, whereas beta's 4,5, and 6 all worked fine. finally i installed beta8a and everything's working again. before getting beta8a to work, i tried cleaning and installing various 0.9.0beta's, looking for one that would work after the failure with beta7. f
