I am having one new problem with the 9.0rc8a driver on a fairly standard
redhat 8.0 box.
The system has an athlon cpu and up through the rc6 version, when
I built the rpms, I got the (expected) alsa-driver-xxx.athlon.rpm
and alsa-kernel-xx.athlon.rpm. However at 7.1 this stopped and only
the i386 rpms could be produced -- this has continued with the 9.0rc8a
as well. (Yes, if built with the command "rpmbuild -ba --target athlon
alsa-driver.spec, the file built but the modules did not all load and
sound was unavailable). However, that -- while "interesting" is not
the problem.
Normally I build the rpms myself (download the .src.rpm from freshrpms),
and I was able to build first the lib (seems to work OK) and then the
alsa-kernel and alsa-driver rpms. (same warnings again, of course).
HOWEVER, when I try to load them, depmod -a shows:

And naturally several modules refuse to load altogether... and I had
no sound.
I got the same results with both kernels kernel-2.4.18-26.8.0 and
kernel-2.4.18-24.8.0.
So I assumed that there was a problem in the rpm build, and I went back
to the raw tarfiles.
To make a long story short, I got exactly the same results.
Any suggestions on where to start looking would be greatly appreciated.
(At the moment I have gone back to the 0.9.0-fr0.rc7.2 driver with the
0.9.0-fr0.rc7.1 lib which mostly works...)

mem: 1gb
os: redhat 8.0
kernel-2.4.18-26.8.0
gcc: gcc-3.2-7
Card: SB Live! EMU10k1 (rev 08) (2.1)
