Well, after all that, I found out that my power connection to the Live!Drive
was bad. Haven't had a chance to test the Lin/Mic In, but the headphones are
working at the very least.

About 3 years ago I bought the first version of the Creative SoundBlaster
Platinum, the one that comes with the Live!Drive.
I do not belive it is a 5.1, it does not say that anywhere on the box, enven
though it has both "front" and "rear" s
