I am installing ALSA on a pentium 150 with a generic sound card using a chip set ES688 ES968. The installation of all three files driver, lib and util works fine, with no error messages noted. When I run the ./snddevices file, the screen informs me that it has created the /dev/snd and the other directories that are required. However, after completion of the run, when I try to look in these directories, they do not exist. I have tried this several times with the same results.
