Ok, I can get the device to sync by setting the Clock Source to AutoSync, but then I get all sorts of errors writing to the audio device. It seems as though setting the device to sync as a slave breaks all the OSS emulation.

EG.,

SNDCTL_DSP_SETFMT: Operation not permitted

and

SOUND_PCM_WRITE_CHANNELS: Operation not permitted
Audio device does not support 8 chans.

Both of these errors go away when I set the device to be a master. But I'm not sure I'll have that luxury.
