Following a disk failure I have done a complete reinstall of RH7.2 and also of alsa 0.9.0rc2. I a seeing the same problem that I have had for six months now; to wit, I can play mono files with aplay, MIDI files with timidity and mp3 files with mpg123. However stereo files appear to play with aplay (with -v I get the peak information etc) but total silence. This is playing through the S/PDIF to digital speakers. The new information is that I can play stereo files if use the play command, so it would not appear to be the driver as such. I* know I have asked before with no response, but does anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong? ==John ffitch
