I have this same problem with my DiO2496. Also ice1712.
But I have to use plughw:1 to get soem sound (mono) at all.
So what would be different here?

arecord x.wav
On playback it sounds like it is repeating chunks of the sound then
skipping to the next chunk.
arecord -f cd x.wav
Nothing on playback.

then i tried to record something with arecord, but the soundquality is
