Hi, I'm trying to record sound from my SAT receiver with the SPDIF-In of my CMI8738-MC6. Everything works fine if I use 48 kHz, but when I try using 44.1 kHz, arecord seems to record with 44.1 kHz, but the frequency of the recorded sound is too low when played back with aplay.
Is this the intended behaviour? Maybe if the sound comes in with 48 kHz, it cannot (and perhaps should not) be resampled to 44.1 kHz? If so, would it be possible to warn about that problem? Is there a way to see with which rate the SPDIF stream is coming in? % arecord -v -D hw:0,2 -c 2 -r 44100 -f S16_LE wav7.wav Recording WAVE 'wav7.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 44100 Hz, Stereo Hardware PCM card 0 'C-Media PCI CMI8738-MC6' device 2 subdevice -1 Its setup is: stream : CAPTURE access : RW_INTERLEAVED format : S16_LE subformat : STD channels : 2 rate : 44100 exact rate : 44100 (44100/1) msbits : 16 buffer_size : 16384 period_size : 4096 period_time : 92879 tick_time : 10000 tstamp_mode : NONE period_step : 1 sleep_min : 0 avail_min : 4096 xfer_align : 4096 start_threshold : 1 stop_threshold : 16384 silence_threshold: 0 silence_size : 0 boundary : 1073741824 Max peak (8192 samples): 10311 (0x2847) ####### 31% Max peak (8192 samples): 10311 (0x2847) ####### 31% [...] It's ALSA 0.9.0rc3 and C-Media PCI CMI8738-MC6 (model 55) here.
