I recently installed Linux (hdb) from SuSE's 8.1 ftp distribution. It
installed the latest Alsa system and recognized my soundcard without a
problem. I have an HP Pavillion 8190 which comes with an AD1816 sound
card. I also run Win95 (hda) The issue I have experienced is that I
don't always get sound. I have noticed that if I use Win95 and then
reboot into Linux the sound works ok. However, if I use Linux and shut
it down or reboot back to it the Sound does not work. I am positive
that the alsa driver is loaded properly. I have tried rebooting
enabling and disabling the BIOS PnP OS option. I don't know how to
troubleshoot this problem. I welcome any suggestions and fixes. I
would really want to overcome this problem as it is the only thing that
keeps me from dropping Win95 altogether.

Thanks,

Gilberto Espinoza
