Hello, I emailed this list a while ago about a problem involving my Hercules Game Theater XP 6.1 soundcard (snd-cs46xx) and ALSA. The computer hangs completely after a while when I use the soundcard, usually after a couple of hours. There seems to be nothing wrong with the card, it works perfectly under windows.
I thought I had solved the problem, since it suddenly disappeared, but soon it came back. I've tried different versions of ALSA including the latest, different kernels, etc. With OSS something else happens, the sound gets distorted after a while, but no crashes as far as I've found. I'd be very grateful for any hints as I'm completely stumped!
