Following on from Nigel Henry's advice to update my Alsa to 1.0.16 I downloaded the tarballs, installed the alsa-lib OK (as far as I as a Linux newbie can see). But then trying to lake the library I ran ./configure OK, but the make command failed: $ make make dep make[1]: Entering directory `/home
