i've got the problem, that i can't backup a directory with 700 rights. the problem is
on the server and also on the client.
any ideas?

what exactly you want to do and how it is failing?

i don't backup nfs-mounts anywhere. the /data/any-directory is owned by www and all
needed suid-bits are set. at the moment i also backup the complete /etc directory
without any problems. on other machines with the same configuration and the rights 770
on the /data/any-directory i can backup it

I just downloaded amanda-2.4.4p1 and installedit, but after testing this
shiny new amanda I still got the same old problem with amanda and the
amanda changer. Here is what I've done:
amanda.conf
tpchanger "chg-multi"
amrecover_changer "chg-mul
New to Amanda here.
Looking for a page that might document some getting-started procedures,
configuration setup, etc.
I'll be using this for my private (home) LAN, mostly to backup the firewall
system (where the 4mm DAT is).

I am having problems using amrecover. I can only see limited number of
indexes and then follow them down to a file level. Most indexes do not
seem to be there. When I do a 'ls' command I only see the 'opt/'
directory or entry from the index files.

maybe i will try it. but the plan is to create an install package with
precompiled cygwin version of amanda.

Thanks for the answer Joshua. It looks like sg0 and sg1 are drives
and sg2 is the changer, mtx -f /dev/sg2 inquiry returns:

drive, but can't quite get it to work. Where is -1 KB coming from?
