We do it the dumb but working way:
we have one server doind daily backups to disk and another server doing
weekly backups to tape which we store offsite. This way we have daily
backups for small disasters and weekly offsite backups for medium

Hi,
I know that there are a lot of threads with this problem, but I found none with
my problem.
I´m using amanda 2.4.4p3 server and client. Since Tuesday I get the following
error:
mailserver /var/mail lev 0 FAILED [disk /var/mail, all estimate failed]
but all the other partitions of

Is there a way how I could test the estimate time dry without making really
a backup?
Yep. sendsize*debug has the exact command it runs, which you could

a manual to find their files.
thanks

After much digging around I found a way to always have my tape configured for
no hardware compression without my constantly having to turn it off.
Here's what I did.
I create a /etc/stinit.def file with the following entries:
# Quantum SDLT220
manufacturer=QUANTUM model=SuperDLT1 {
timeout=3600
google for rsync snapshot

Hi Joshua,

If you head to quantum.com and do a seatch for 'linux book' they have a pdf
document that explains some of that.

Exactly. You might use something like rsnapshot to generate regular
snapshots of your DLEs and for example re-export with Samba ...
I use this at several clients so the users can simply browse a share for
the excel-file from Monday, at 2pm ...
