As someone else pointed out, if you want it to use more tape each night
the easiest way is to shorten your dumpcycle.

A couple of years back we bought a SDLT 220 drive which works just
great with amanda. Now we'd like to buy another drive. The latest
model seems to be the Quantum M1500 series which is a DLT 320 (single
