amanda-client.conf is, like it's name let assume, for the client. You can
have one on your server too, if you backup/restore your server too (client
and server at once).

I'm not sure I understood what I need to do.
I changed the dumptype in my amanda.conf file to GNUTAR, this section
now says:
define dumptype user-tar {
root-tar
program "GNUTAR"
comment "definitions for GNUTAR"
}
I also ran ./configure again on my client with --with-gnutar=/usr/

I'm trying to rebuild an Amanda server on Ubuntu. I'm going from Edgy to
Fiesty. I'm getting the following error:
amtape: could not load slot : could not read result from
"/opt/amanda/libexec/chg-multi"
when I do:
amtape DailyDump slot 1
Any suggestions as to where start looking for this? I'v

I found a bad line in chg-multi today, pretty easy to fix if your good
at bash.
Take a look at your chg-multi in your libexec directory.
Look at line 410.
