man tar
-C, --directory DIR
change to directory DIR
It change the directory to '/data/nihpd/nihpd3/users' and then backup '.'
It is the expected behaviour.
The DLE should not be a symlink if you don't want to follow it.

A funny thing happened when I forced a full of a DLE on a client. I
had noticed a few days before that a user had moved the content of the
entire DLE (/data/nihpd/nihpd3/users) to another disk and replaced it
with a symlink pointing to its new location:
# ls -ld /data/nihpd/nihpd3/users

Where does it get calisto name from??
Maybe amanda-client.conf on the machine you started amrecover?
And how to edit that?
vi, emacs, kate, kedit,...

I think I did a backup sucessfully, but I cannot check as i do not have
a logs although the folder
/var/log/amanda/fullback was created.
1. How do I switch the logs in the config so as to check the status of
the backup.
2. amrecover is giving this message
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/etc/ama

Hi Paddy,
It's great that there is a packaged version of Amanda again.
Why are you installing it /usr/libexec/*, /usr/bin & /var/lib/amanda?
I tried to keep the same location as Linux versions. Se
