This is getting damned old. amanda is failing to add the appendix that makes my wrapper work, after writing, in this case to the 2nd vtape.
Digging around it looked like it should have but my wrapper script that does that refuses to run, outputting this as the failure msg: root@coyote:GenesAmandaHelper-0.61$ su amanda -c "./bak-indices-configs Daily 17" configuration error - unknown item 'ALWAYS_SET_PATH' (notify administrator) tapelist INDICE_PATH in bak-indice-configs now=/usr/local/var/amanda/ Line 24 DATALOC=slot17 Tapelist file to be used TAPELIST=/usr/local/etc/amanda//Daily/tapelist tapename=Dailys-17, tapenum=17 getting tape usage count from dd.report.Dailys-17 Line 71 Tape use count from dd.report.Dailys-17 = 9 line 74 Tapeusecount is now=9 This tape Dailys-17 has now been used 10 times INDICE_PATH=/usr/local/var/amanda/, CONFPATH=/usr/local/etc/amanda//Daily DATALOC=slot17 This script is being run as ./bak-indices-configs Daily 17 using tape Dailys-17 tar: Removing leading `/' from member names tar: Removing leading `/' from member names amstatus: bad status on taper SHM-WRITE (dumper): 20 at /usr/local/share/perl/5.24.1/Amanda/Status.pm line 918, <$fd> line 3142. (this I believe may be the important part, caused by using a second vtape?) Two things are common. 1. this time it left 2 DLE backups in dumps, a total of about 40GB in 2 gig pieces and complained of a degraded holding disk, The backups left total about 25% of the holding disk. Its now a 240GB SSD, plenty big enough to do the job. 2. The backup was huge because it had run out of days in the schedule. The planner simply cannot deal with a wide dispersion of DLE sizes.
