Are there any tape errors in the system log?
I run into this type of problem when, somehow, the blocksize of the tape
drive is changed. Then amanda will run through the whole set of tapes
and reject them all while the system log shows kernel: st0: Incorrect
block size. each time a tape is

AIT-4 sure looks pretty though.
We've used AIT-3 for a couple of years and AIT-4 for 6-months or so. No
significant problems.
BUT - my AIT-4 drive apparently can't even read AIT-3 tapes. Seems
mind-bogglingly stupid but my vendor assures me it's true

Apologies if this has come up before. Couldn't find anything relevant.
I'm talking about level 0 dumps (not incrementals). Using ait-3 tapes,
GNUTAR (not linux dump), a tape library, 104GB holding disk and
setting runtapes greater than 1 (I need to dump several tapes-worth of
data). NO
(if
compression is off this should be very clear). A closer look at the man
page confirms this. Oh well.
Thanks for the responses!
